Muffins new house mate - Chestnut

Today me and Megan went to the pet store again. I decided I wanted another pet rat to keep Muffin company. So I bought a baby rat and named her Chestnut. She's kinda scared, but Muffin loves her. She's already forcing her down and cleaning her. It's so cute. I don't know how I came up with the name Chestnut, but I like it. Don't you? Hahaha, I just used a rhetorical question in my blog. How pathetic was that? There goes another one. Anyways, I just need to put some flea powder on her because Muffin still has fleas. Shes not itching so that means theres so live one. I'm gonna make sure to put the powder on Muffin every 3-4 days. Instead of 2 weeks.

My Poor Baby

Today has been an abomination for poor Muffin. I've discovered that she has fleas. It's so gross and horrible. I've bathed her two times with Dawn soap and followed some instructions I found on the internet. I don't st    know what I'm going to do to get rid of them. I guess I'll just try to do what I've been doing and see if that works. Fleas are just so hard to handle.

Dumbo Rat

What should be her name?

Another day, another adventure. Like I have been lately with my best friend Megan, I've been getting many rodents. We ride the PCPT to Tarpon Springs and go to the exotic pet shop. Today, Megan got a Dumbo rat. A Dumbo rat is a rat with the ears to the side of it's face instead of being on top of the rats head. Isn't she so cute? We've only had her for three hours and she's a little ski-dish. Megan got, for now the unnamed rat, for Daisy to have a friend. Rats are very social animals and they like to have someone to cuddle with and play with.

Muffin has a new friend

We all love making new friends. After bringing my pet home, I had my friend Megan introduce her rat Daisy to Muffin. They clicked at once. They both were cleaning themselves at synchronized moments. May I say so myself, it was the cutest thing ever.

I came home today to find Muffin in her tube. I believe she has been there since this morning. I had to force her out. I don't know if it's because she's scarred to come down or she really likes it in there, but I'm taking it down for not because a rat needs to eat. As I said in my previous post, I would supply a post tip to keeping your rat happy.

Tip : Handle your pet everyday to keep her/him on your sleep schedule and make the rat know you.

The start of something new

This is my new pet rat Muffin. She is very calm and very smart. I find rats to be very smart, as some say, vermin. They make great pets. They crawl up and down your arms and sit on your shoulders. They can learn there own name and also be taut tricks. You can also teach your pet rat to not pee or poop on you. Yes, it does happen. But this should not stop you from buying your very own pet rat. From studying my rat so far, I say that they act like dogs. They can hop around and lick you and what not. She is so cute. She is full black with little white front paws.

If your deciding between a rat and a hamster, I would go with the rat if I was you. There just like hamsters but ten times better. As we speak shes calmly sitting on my shoulder. Just cleaning herself and being all cute. This is just day 1 and I have so much to say. As each week passes I will continue to write down the adventure of Muffin and to our rat lovers, a special message ; I will also be putting down tips and notes on how to take care of your pet rat.

Tip : A healthy rat is a happy rat.
